I can’t wait to get my hands on some of those books. I have Spellcraft and have found it so helpful. My father was a practitioner of Old Norse magick. I grew up with images of Freyja. I learned to cast runes when I was a child. I find unfortunately that since white supremacists got ahold of anything Norse that trustworthy sources of knowledge are hard to come by. It’s even harder to find actual humans to engage with. I am trying in my ancestor work to dive into the Old Norse realm, but it’s challenging.

Thank you for this awesome list! I would like to add Ezra Rose’s *FYMA: The Lesser Key to the Appropriation of Jewish Magic & Mysticism*. They’ve available on a pay-what-you-want model on their itch.io site.

I would like to recommend the Intuitive Girls podcast. They have wonderful breakdowns on all the Sabbats, they speak quite a bit about appropriation, being anti-racist, and doing important work for the collective. I also appreciate their episodes about spiritual teachers/practices that have become problematic or have problematic roots. Throw in some pop culture and it’s like coffee with some cool friends. Also neurodivergent with neurodivergent kids.

I am a fellow traveler who grew up in northeast GA and now call Asheville home. What an incredibly rich resource you have provided with this article, Aris! I am so grateful. I struggle with issues of appropriation in the overculture and am so pleased to have found this piece. I love Lindsay Mack (the greatest Tarot teacher!), and I am looking forward to investigating your other recommendations!
